It’s Hip to Be Square, and Half-Square

A creative volunteer with a local sewing group has allowed us to use three of her adorable quilt patterns and make them available to you here. These animal quilts (featuring a dinosaur, a dog with a bone, and a horse or zebra) are made with a simple combination of squares and half-square triangles.

Many thanks to Elizabeth LeSueur, for sharing her patterns and instructions. They finish at a perfect child size cuddle quilt (approximately 40″ x 50″). Click on the pattern image below and it will open the pdf of that pattern in a new window.

If you make one of these cute quilts, please snap a picture of it and e-mail it to us at info@azblankets4kids.com.

  1. I found these patterns in my search for easy patterns to make, I’m new to quilting. I love the patterns but as a beginner it would be helpful for the yardage to be included, like it is with the horse pattern.

These look to be quick and easy, which is what I need to start with. Thank you for providing the patterns. You have an amazing mission.

    • Hi Suz, We’re happy you love using our patterns. We don’t provide yardage measurements because they are often made with donated fabrics of various size and prints. Sometimes they are very scrappy, but no less beautiful. Happy stitching! 🙂
