Giving Goodness

Lots of things are on hold these days, however, that is not the case with our wonderful volunteers who continue to create lots of cuddle-sized quilts for the children of the greater Phoenix area who need a little comfort in their young lives. In a three day period over 175 quilts were donated by our caring volunteers. They tell us making these gifts for the children is their way of giving back and also keeping busy these days.

We also want to celebrate two new volunteers who recently found our organization and donated some super soft and cuddly quilts for our kids…

“We are Emily Williams and Marlee Knudsen. We are cousins who were both taught to sew by our mothers, on occasion against the will of our childhood selves. We both have worked in costume shops and enjoy sewing lots of different things. Emily made over 70 face masks for our family members during the pandemic. Emily is a music teacher at Milano’s; she teaches voice, piano, flute, guitar, and ukelele. Marlee works from home for a medical imaging company. We decided to use some of our existing fabric and supplement with more to make blankets to help spread a little joy this Christmas. We wanted to do something good because it’s been a rough year. We ended up with 26 flannel/minky blankets that needed good homes. We found your lovely charity online and knew that would be the one. The list of places that you donate to really impressed us. We hope that the love and cheer that we put into these blankets will be felt by the recipients.”

Emily and Marlee’s giving spirits have warmed our hearts, and we know the recipients of their blankets are in for a special treat. In this season of giving, we see so much goodness coming from our resilient volunteers. Please know how grateful we are for you all sharing so graciously of your time, talents, and resources.

From all of us with AZ Blankets 4 Kids, we wish you happy and healthy holidays, and we look forward to a better year in 2021. ❤️

  1. Are you accepting handmade crochet blankets at this time? I live in Cave Creek and am not sure about the closest location would be for me

    • Thank you so much for thinking of us! Yes we are accepting crocheted blankets. Please follow our size guidelines, smallest should be 38×38 inches square, larger is fine. Please use acrylic yarn (those wash and dry the best!) We also ask that the holes not be too large (no granny squares) so the babies’ tiny fingers and toes do not get intertwined with the yarn. Please check our website for the list of drop-off locations…most likely one of the locations in the city Phoenix would be the closest to you.
