June 1, 2024 – sunny – ☀️ 105°
We kicked off our summer sewing season with 38 of our quilting friends at Las Palmas Grand. As the heat began to settle in, we were cool and content, making blankets inside the LPG Ballroom. There were 27 blankets brought in the door already complete, and another 26 completed during the Bee, for a total of 53 blankets ready to wrap our kids in comfort.
LPG treated us to morning coffee and pastries, giving us some get-up-n-go to start our day. At lunch, we shared delicious sloppy joes, chips and ice cream bars.
During our lunch break, we pulled the winning ticket for our pretty, patriotic door prize basket that is lovingly assembled by Letty Fowell. Sue Burdett, from La Hacienda, took this star-spangled prize. The 50/50 raffle splits the prize between one lucky winner and our kind Bee hosts. Joan Most, the leader of the LPG quilting group, can be seen smiling alongside our own Peg Adams, holding her ticket and her winnings. We also had a silent auction of a sewing machine, donated by Barb Middleton and won by Carla Ebert, from the Las Sendas community.
Check out the photos below and you’ll get a sense of the productivity, fellowship and fun that we get up to at our Bees. It’s a groovy vibe (just ask Barb Hopkins)! Thanks again to our gracious hosts at Las Palmas Grand for another beautiful Bee.
Thanks for sharing the info and pictures from the bee. It makes us winter quilters feel like we were there too.
