Weaver’s Needle – 2026

January 9, 2026 – partly cloudy and chilly – ⛅️ 55°

Our first Bee of the new year was a fun one! It was a little on the chilly side, but we were warm buzzing inside the Bee. As always, we received 5-star service from our friends at Weaver’s Needle. From the valet/cart parking brigade outside, to the sweets and coffee inside, we always get stellar treatment. After morning treats, we worked hard until it was time to stretch and exercise with Barb and Allie. Then we filled our bellies with yummy salads, all provided by our friends from Weaver’s Needle.

After lunch we heard from special guest, Ronni Chavez, author of “The Crazy Quilter.”

When Dana’s great-aunt Angie passes away, she is bequeathed an unexpected inheritance-Angie’s New England quilt shop. But as Dana questions whether the lifestyle of a small-town quilt shop owner will fit her, strange things are happening, leading Dana to wonder if Angie’s restless spirit might haunt the shop. What dark secrets did Angie harbor? Why are her most prized quilts mysteriously missing? Should Dana keep the quilt shop? Even if it is haunted by a crazy quilter?

Dana is embraced in her search by a group of local quilters: Edna, Janet, Alice, and Margo. These four women become Dana’s allies and friends as she delves into her family’s hidden history and the enigmas of quilting.

This charmingly haunted tale blends mystery, quilting, and the power of family to uncover the essential meaning of being true to yourself and finding the threads that stitch a heritage.

This is Ronni’s first book, and she has a second on the way! She’s also an avid quilter and pattern designer. Ronni kindly donated a copy of her book and a zippered sewing pouch to give away at the Bee. Sandy Hart won the book, and Carolyn Linde won the pouch, both from Weaver’s Needle. Our door prize of $20 in Bee Bucks went to Terry Dieker, also from Weaver’s Needle. Our big 50/50 winner was Leann Williams, who sews with our friends at Palmas del Sol. She split the prize with Lois, our host group representative.

Bee by the numbers: 89 quilts brought in at the door. 35 finished at the Bee. That’s a total of 118 blankets ready to be delivered to our kids!

Thank you all for making this such a wonderful day!
