Our first annual Bee at the Arizonian RV Resort, in Gold Canyon, started with a few flickers of adventure! The resort had lost power in the morning, but they still greeted us with smiles (and the cutest little lamps we could use to light our way in the loo). We had plenty of natural light to set up in their big, beautiful, community room. By the time our Bee was scheduled to start, utility services had the juice flowing, sewing machines were whirring, irons began heating, and coffee started perking.
We filled the work room with 79 guests, and had a tent set up in the parking lot to handle a full day of spray basting. These ladies were dynamos! They also may have been fueled by a little friendly competition with their sister RV Resort, Weavers Needle. Like their sister, the Arizonian put out quite a spread of food. There were tables heaped with baked goodies in the morning, and a potluck luncheon with food donated by the entire community. If you want a sampling of these tasty treats, try Vicki Thompson’s popular pasta salad.
Spaghetti Salad
1 lb. package spaghetti, cooked and drained
1 red onion, chopped
1 orange or green pepper, chopped
1 tomato, chopped
1 bottle Zesty Italian Dressing
1/2 bottle McCormick Salad Supreme (found in spice aisle)
Mix – Chill – Devour
Our guests turned all the fine food into fuel for the day, leaving the Arizonian in the lead with their sibling rivalry. There were 98 blankets donated at the door and a whopping 66 completed at the Bee, for a fabulous 164 total blankets! Well done and so much fun!
