February 22, 2025 – clear skies – ☀️ 75°
It was a beautiful day for a Bee with our friends at La Hacienda RV Resort in Apache Junction. The hive was buzzing with 46 workers, sewing, cutting, tying, layering, pressing, and having a wonderful time.
Several ladies from our host group were trying to remember how many years La Hacienda has been hosting a Bee. After a little digging through our newsletter archives, I found the May 2007 newsletter featured our first Bee at La Hacienda. It’s always fun to reminisce, so I’ve added the link to this newsletter below.
2007 Newsletter featuring first Bee at LaHacienda
This Bee invites everyone attending to bring a dish to add to the potluck salad luncheon. Every year new dishes are discovered and recipes are shared. Many thanks to our hosts for the morning treats and for setting up a beautiful lunch buffet.
During lunch, our Bee Queen, Nancy Kolton, spoke about Child & Family Resources in Apache Junction. They are one of approximately 28 recipient agencies receiving our blankets throughout the Phoenix metro area.
The door prize of Letty’s gorgeous gift basket of goodies went to long time AZB4K volunteer, Barb Staufenberg, from Mountainbrook Village. Check out her beautiful smile among the photos below. The 50/50 raffle put $83 in the pocket of Gloria Geske, from Towerpoint. The other half went to Peg Wier, representing our fine hosts from La Hacienda. Peg also received a certificate of appreciation for hosting what we now know was their 19th Bee with AZ Blankets 4 Kids!
Bee by the numbers: 32 (26 from our kind hosts) quilts brought in at the door. 41 finished at the Bee. That’s a total of 73 blankets ready to be delivered to our kids!
Thank you all for making this such a wonderful day!
