June 3, 2023 – clear skies – ☀️ 101°
We hid from the heat, nibbled on some pizza, and had a sweet day of blanket making at Las Palmas Grand. We had 38 attendees. There were 92 blankets donated at the door and 19 completed at the Bee, for a grand total of 111 blankets for the day.
We ordered pizza for lunch and our Bee Coordinator, Nancy Kolton, provided delivery service and also whipped up a tasty kale salad for lunch. You really can’t go wrong with pizza and a day sewing with friends.
Check out some of the photos below for Bee highlights. We had sister quilters visit us with a pile of donated blankets. Sisters Jody, Patti, Holly, and Debbie, are using material from Alma’s (their mom) fabric stash. A smiling Shirley presses perfect points on some pinwheel blocks. Laurie Maestas won the pretty patriotic door prize basket made by our own lovely Letty Fowell. Allie has double luck, winning the 50/50 raffle two times in a row! President, Sylvia Saffell, presents a beaming Rose Mary Lloyd, from Palmas del Sol, with a $25 gift card. Rose Mary’s luck won her some moolah to spend at nearby Quilter’s Oasis. We’re happy to send volunteers their way to shop and also drop off blanket donations for AZ Blankets 4 Kids. We’re so grateful for the Las Palmas Grand quilters, lead by the magnificent Joan Most.
We look forward to seeing you back for more Bees in the Fall!
